What's up, I'm Kiersten :)
You can call me Kiersten or Ms. Kiersten. 

I grew up in Iowa City, Iowa, and am currently a student at the University of North Texas studying Jazz Voice Performance. I first found my love for music and teaching in high school, and decided to pursue music ed/performance in college.

 

I grew up listening to music, but I'm actually the first musician in my family and didn't start singing/playing instruments until much later in my life. One of my biggest passions is writing and performing my original music, which I get to do outside of work and school walls frequently.

 

I'm also training for my fourth marathon, as running is another one of my big passions. I'm so excited to continue learning and growing at Destiny :)

​My biggest advice is to continue listening; listen to the music you love, but also immerse yourself in new music. There's so much beauty in the new music being created every day, and you never know when an artist or genre will change your perception on your own music making. Music is its own language, and the best way to learn a new language is to immerse yourself in that culture and listen to those who are fluent in it.
